World Tamil meet: Security measures discussed

Top police officials on Saturday discussed and reviewed the security arrangements to be in place in and around the region, in view of the World Classical Tamil Conference, scheduled to begin here from June 23.

The review meeting, presided over by the State ADGP (L and O), K. Radhakrishnan, discussed the requirement of police force for the security, particularly at the venue, CODISSIA Complex, the route of procession, special stage for VVIPs to view the procession and places where the VVIPs and delegates staying.

West Zone IG, P Sivanandi, DIGs of different ranges in the State, including Balanagadevi, Thamaraikannan, Balasubramanian, Balachandran, Amalraj and Armed Reserve DIG, Jayaraman participated in the meeting, police said.

It was estimated that around 15,000 police personnel were required as part of the security in and around the city alone, they said.
