Development works for the World Classical Tamil Conference are progressing well and everything would be completed by June 15, Finance Minister K. Anbazhagan said Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters after reviewing the works at CODISSIA Complex and also participating in planting of saplings, he said one lakh saplings would be planted in and around the city within 15 days. These saplings would be maintained properly even after the conference, he said.
Stating that idols and scriptures are being created, he said the huge pandal would accommodate more than 50,000 persons to witness the proceedings of the conference.
The proceedings would be beamed through huge screens for the benefit of the public, he said, adding nearly 50 CCTVs would be installed inside the pandal.
Rural Industries minister Pongalur Palanisamy, Forest minister K. Selvaraj, Khadi minister D. Ramachandran and senior district officials were present during the review.
