GRT Hotels & Resorts, promoted by G.R. Thanga Maligai, Chennai, a leading jewellery house in the south, plans to build two four-star hotels in Coimbatore and Hyderabad under the GRT Grand brand name. The company has forwarded the project proposals to the municipal authorities for approval. A company spokesperson put the cost of the two upcoming hotels at over Rs 150 crore. The company has acquired the land for the projects.
The hotel in Coimbatore will have about 150 rooms and will come up on about two-and-a-half acres of land at Avinashi Road. This hotel will mainly cater to business travellers. Arup Datta, a Canadian firm, has been appointed as the architect. The hotel will be eco-friendly.
