Faded traffic umbrellas and worn out facilities will soon be a thing of the past in Coimbatore.
Along with modern traffic signals, the police have begun replacing traffic umbrellas that help constables escape scorching sun and heavy downpour.
In the first phase, the police are installing 15 umbrellas, aesthetically designed in steel.
Facilities
The umbrellas are not just good in appearance, they have light and fan.
Visibility
City Police Commissioner C. Sylendra Babu said in the first phase, 15 umbrellas were being replaced and more umbrellas would be installed in phases.
The umbrellas were not just comfortable to the constables but also enhanced visibility for motorists waiting at signals, he said.
