Coimbatore: In the customer satisfaction index survey conducted by Development and Research Services, a New Delhi-based agency, the Coimbatore Airport has bagged 84 per cent satisfaction rate as against 77 per cent last year.
Airport Director M.R. Vasudeva told The Hindu that the Ministry of Civil Aviation instituted the customer satisfaction study with set benchmarking for 40 international and domestic airports across the country.
The survey, done once in six months, was conducted in the months of March and April this year taking feedback from airlines, embarking and disembarking passengers, air traffic services regulating agency, visitors to the airport, exporters and importers besides concessionaires.
Based on the feedback, the percentage for various airports had been arrived at and Coimbatore Airport was witnessing an increase in traffic of seven per cent compared to that in the previous year.
Mr. Vasudeva said 7,798 international passengers and 97,817 domestic passengers travelled from Coimbatore Airport in May 2009 while in May 2010 the figure was 10,100 international and 1,10,680 domestic passengers.
Mr. Vasudeva also pointed out that with the latest state-of-the-art arrival hall and facilities such as escalators, three luggage conveyor belts, increased parking space and also the aerobridge under installation, the satisfaction levels were expected to go up further in the days to come.
