Chamber thanks railways for introducing Duronto Express

Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, has thanked the Southern Railway on the move to introduce Duronto Express between Coimbatore and Chennai for six days a week excepting Tuesdays and tri-weekly Intercity Express between Coimbatore and Tirupati.

The non-stop Duronto Express and Intercity Express train to Tirupati was a long pending demand of this region and would benefit the people of this region to a considerable extent.
Similarly, introduction of electric train between Coimbatore and Erode on all days excepting Sundays would cater to the needs of the people in this region, a release from Chamber president, Mahendra Ramdas said.
He also pointed that the railways has remained silent on the long pending plea of the people of this region for an overnight express train to Bangalore from Coimbatore, besides trains to Thiruvananthapuram and cities on the East Coast of Tamil Nadu and train service to Madurai and Rameshwaram have not found a place. Mr. Mahendra Ramdas appealed to the General Manager to initiate measures for commencing the operation of the Duronto Express and Intercity Express at the earliest possible.
