Changes in traffic pattern at Sai Baba Colony

City Police Commissioner C. Sylendra Babu has announced some changes in the newly-introduced traffic pattern on NSR Road in Sai Baba Colony.
As part of the efforts to decongest the roads, the police had recently announced that vehicles from Thadagam Road alone would be allowed to ply via NSR Road while vehicles from Mettupalayam Road would have to take Alagesan Road to reach Thadagam Road.
This was aimed at easing congestion on NSR Road.
However, merchants and residents in the area expressed inconvenience in the pattern. Mayor R. Venkatachalam also wrote to the Collector and Police Commissioner urging them to revisit the plan. Representatives from NSR Road and Sai Baba Colony met the police officials and presented a memorandum.
Accepting the reasons cited by them, Mr. Sylendra Babu announced some changes in the pattern.
Only light motor vehicles such as two-wheelers and cars would be permitted to enter NSR Road from Mettupalayam Road.
Other vehicles such as cargo, buses and trucks would have to reach Thadagam Road only via Alagesan Road.
The new system is being tried on an experimental basis for three days from July 11.
