Tamil Nadu Consumer Welfare Centre has accused the Southern Railway of committing gross injustice to Coimbatore by delaying the introduction of a Coimbatore – Bangalore night train.
In a release here, president of the Centre J.V. George has said that it was a long pending demand of Coimbatore.
Exorbitant fare
Now passengers are forced to rely on omni bus operators who are operating more than 20 buses during night and charging exorbitant fare.
The extension of Intercity Express to Ernakulam has denied adequate accommodation for those wanting to travel from Coimbatore.
Mr. George suggested that the Kannur – Bangalore daily train service could be operated via Coimbatore so that at least 10 per cent of the passengers from Coimbatore region could get accommodation in this train.
