From SSC-CBE forum-The Hindu

Spencer's Retail is focusing on big format stores that are a one-stop-shop for the food needs of a family, according to its general manager Jagannathan. He told The Hindu here on Thursday that Spencer's Retail was present in 13 cities in Tamil Nadu and it would expand in these cities.

It planned to have about 40,000 sq.ft in each of these cities. The company had started big format stores in Tiruchi and Coimbatore and would inaugurate one in Chennai. In Coimbatore, the store was spread across 10,000 sq.ft. at Indus Tower on Avinashi Road. It had a range of products in the food and grocery segments, fresh fruits, vegetables, diet food, and international gourmet products.
It had a bakery section too. Spencer's planned to add another 10,000 sq.ft of trading area in Coimbatore in another 12 months. Apart from the big format store, it had two more stores in the city.
Spencer's had 200 stores with one million sq.ft. of trading area in different parts of the country. Of these, 30 were big format stores. These were positioned as destination stores where a customer would find different varieties of food products.
