Salzer plans solar energy generation

The Coimbatore-based Salzer Electronics plans to enter solar energy generation by setting up a plant in the State.

Joint Managing Director of the company Rajesh Doraisamy told ‘The Hindu' that as per the guidelines of the Union Government (National Solar Mission), the company planned to establish a five MW grid-connected solar photo voltaic power plant in the State at a cost of Rs. 75 crore.

He said the company registered Rs. 190 crore gross income this year and was hopeful of achieving Rs. 500 crore revenue in another three years.

Mr. Doraisamy said the economy had started recovering and was spurring the demand for electrical products. The power sector was witnessing increasing investment interest from the Government and the private sector, thus increasing the demand for the products made by the company.

The research and development team was developing various products that were solar and LED based. These would be launched in two years. With these measures the company was confident of increasing its revenue to Rs.500 crore in three years.
