Karunanidhi to open new building of university

Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi will inaugurate a new academic building and auditorium of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International School of Textiles and Management here on December 13. According to the Director of the institute S.R. Pujar, the new structures have come up at a cost of Rs. 21 crore on 6.31 acre. Currently, the six-year old institute has about 240 students in four main programmes related to the textile industry. It will start new courses next year for home textiles and retail management and overseas students will be admitted.
The new infrastructure was adjacent to the existing campus. The auditorium will have a seating capacity of 500 and the interiors will be done by the National Institute of Design. Mr. Pujar added that the last date for admission to the MBA Textile Management course offered jointly by the institute and the Indira Gandhi National Open University was extended December 13.
